2009 Update

Summary of National Activities:

In 2009, New Zealand continued to promote SNOMED CT through education and familiarization activities.

An expert advisory committee, consisting of representatives from across the health and disability sector, was established in 2009 to consider options for establishing a Medicines Terminology for New Zealand. The committee reviewed the various options currently in use internationally and the existing requirements in New Zealand. The recommended best way forward for the NZ health and disability sector is the adoption and adaptation of the SNOMED CT based Australian Medicines Terminology.

New Zealand is also represented on a number of special interests groups including Primary Care and Mapping.
