Lithuanian eHelath strategy

SUMMARY ON LITHUANIAN eHEALTH

 

Development of Lithuanian eHealth system involves a scope of political, organisational, behavioural and psychological efforts to achieve better quality healthcare using information technologies. Main Goal of Lithuanian National e-Health System is to ensure continuity of care by improved access to patient information and assured information exchange system between institutions.

The eHealth system will be developed during several stages and on different levels - national, regional and local:

Stage 1: Creation of the national eHealth core with services ensuring the information exchange;

Stage 2: Setup of the national level of eHealth system and implement pilot functions, focused on primary healthcare level automation;

Stage 3: Implementation of remaining functions of the national level eHealth system

Stage 4&5: deployment of eHealth system functions in healthcare institutions (HCIs), automation of HCIs internal functions.

On March of 2007 was launched the Pilot implementation of stage 1&2 of the National eHealth system.
