The National Board of Health represents Denmark in the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO®). The National Board of Health is the supreme health care authority in Denmark and it is a main task for the board to set the best possible frames within the health care system for the prevention and treatment of illness, suffering and functional limitations for the individual. Thus the National Board of Health supports that people in Denmark have the possibility to live healthily and can be treated in a secure and highly professional way. The tasks of the National Board of Health are administered by a number of divisions that work together across professional boarders.
The National Release Centre in Denmark lies within the Health Documentation Division and is responsible for supporting users as well as distributing and managing SNOMED CT® in Denmark.

Sundhedsstyrelsen repræsenterer Danmark i IHTSDO. Sundhedsstyrelsen er den øverste sundhedsfaglige myndighed i Danmark, og det er styrelsens opgave i samarbejde med beslutningstagere at skabe de bedste sundhedsfaglige rammer for behandling og forebyggelse. Sundhedsstyrelsen er således med til at understøtte, at folk i Danmark har mulighed for at kunne leve sundt og efter behov kan behandles sikkert i et sundhedsvæsen med høj faglig kvalitet. Sundhedsstyrelsens opgaver varetages af en række enheder og centre, der arbejder sammen på tværs inden for faglige områder.
Det danske Nationale Release Centre har hjemme i Enhed for Sundhedsdokumentation og er ansvarligt for distribution, administration og servicering i forbindelse med SNOMED CT ® i Danmark.
