Australia

Australia’s representative to the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation is the National E-Health Transition Authority (NEHTA).  NEHTA is a not for profit company established by the Australian, State and Territory governments to develop better ways of electronically collecting and securely exchanging health information.

 

NEHTA is leading and delivering a set of related initiatives to deliver a secure, interoperable e-health environment by standardising the format of, and data contained in, clinical reports such as patient referrals and hospital discharge summaries across all health IT systems.

 

As a Member of the IHTSDO®, NEHTA will be responsible for distributing and managing SNOMED CT® in Australia, and will develop and maintain content specific to Australia.
