General Information about IHTSDO Conferences

The IHTSDO arranges two conferences a year; one in April and one in October. The location and content the two conferences differs as outlined below.

The April conference is principally a business meeting. It is held in Denmark and includes:

  • Formal meetings of IHTSDO Governance and Advisory bodies
    • These are meetings of groups with an appointed or elected membership;
    • Many of the meetings are open to observers, but some sessions are closed and may only be attended by members of the relevant bodies.
  • Meetings of some IHTSDO Working Groups
    • These are working sessions of groups, completing a defined set of deliverables.
    • There are no tutorial or training sessions during this event.

The October conference is a larger event with a broader scope. It is held in a different IHTSDO Member country each year and includes:

  • Formal meetings of IHTSDO Governance and Advisory bodies
    • Same as in April
  • Working Group meetings
    • Functional Special Interest Groups
      • Education, Implementation, Mapping, Translation, etc.
    • Professional Special Interest Groups
      • Clinical discipline and specialty focused groups.
    • Project Groups
      • With specific work assignments.
  • SNOMED CT Implementation Showcase including:
    • Conference presentations based around implementation experiences 
    • Tutorials and workshops
    • Exhibition of SNOMED CT enabled applications
    • Poster presentations related to implementation

IHTSDO 2013 Conferences:

October 7-11 in Washington DC, US at the Sheraton Crystal City.
