Affiliate Forum

IHTSDO is keen to support and enable broader and better use of SNOMED CT around the world. To this end, the concept of an Affiliate Forum was outlined in the organization’s Articles of Association. The Forum is intended to bring together users of SNOMED CT from around the world - a diverse and representative community of vendors, implementers, and other Affiliate License holders - to exchange views, share experiences, and provide advice to the IHTSDO on how best to support those who are implementing SNOMED CT. Over the past few months, a number of Affiliates have been asked about their information needs. Their advice was considered in the design of the Forum and served as key input in the development of specifications for an on-line forum for exchange of information among Affiliates. We would like to thank all those who worked with us as part of this pilot testing process.

We look forward to launching the Affiliate Forum at the October 2008 IHTSDO Community of Practice Meetings. To this end, two new sessions have been included in the meeting schedule:

· At the start of the day on November 1^st, there will be a brief orientation session for the Affiliate Forum.

· After lunch on the same day, there will be a planning session for the Affiliate Forum and for a proposed Implementation Special Interest Group that has been suggested by the Research and Innovation Committee.

We invite all Affiliates to join us at these sessions. You can register through the conference registration form. More information about these sessions will be posted to the Collaborative Space prior to the meetings.
